Baby shield the baby protection zone. A typically described neo natal wing monitored by two discreet inert receivers allows nursing staff free to attend to their primary nursing care duties without the need to constantly be alert the location of mothers and infants.

The baby protection starts with a midwife booking the infant into the units computer system in the normal manner. The only addition is to enter the unique code number with the infant's details and attach the infant with the tamper alert fob.
From this point the baby protection system is operational. The two receivers monitor the fob signal which transmits every 2.4 seconds and reports to the PC its presence creating an audit log. If the signal is not received for any reason a lost signal alert is triggered. Sabotage, signal masking, exiting by a door, window or hole in the roof the system alerts. The monitored zone cannot be compromised or argued with. It is not subject to parental pressure, debate or assumptions twenty four hours a day the baby is protected.

A secondary function monitors the fob for tamper which alerts if removal is attempted

In addition to the lost signal alert and tamper the final exit and fire exit from the unit has the same discreet inert receiver set to short range monitoring. These alert if a tag is present near the exits. This alerts and locks the doors if an infant is near.

Baby protection is paramount in an automatic system. Only authorised staff may remove a fob from the system to allow an infant to leave the unit. Baby protection is maintained with a controlled orderly procedure to correctly discharging the hospitals duty of care.
