Baby Shield is an anti abduction system for neo natal and infants units within a Hospital environment.
Baby Shield is a discreet active RFID module that has a unique identity code. The Baby Shield is attached to the infant and is monitored for presence by small receivers within the unit and managed by PC based software. This provides confirmation of presence every 2.4 seconds and alerts if the unique code is not detected or tampered with. In addition small receivers at final exits monitor the unique code and alert if detected within 2m of the exit.
Baby Shield is manufactured to be readily connected to other security assets such as magnetic door locks, CCTV etc.
It is a fully automatic system monitored by software generating a clear audit trail in real time. Health care professionals only assigns a patient to the Patient Shield system a one minute operation and are then are free to carry on with their duties without distraction.
This is the same system as Patient Shield for the prevention of patient wondering but with enhanced level of exit monitoring. The security level anticipates that it will be actively tested by abductors.
